Beth!

All of this started with Beth.
If it hadn't been for her taking a risk and accepting
an invitation from a stranger to take some shots,
I wouldn't have had the courage to approach other dancers and ask to borrow their time
and talent. Please visit Ballet After Dark, titled after the first
collection Beth and I created, to view a new load of stunning Beth shots....

Tarina!

Tarina is the first dancer that has ever gotten in touch with ME to do some work together.
Our first shoot was at an adorable little gallery in the exchange called, and the surrounding
area. We are blessed in Winnipeg to have such a wealth of bewitching nooks and crannies.
And dancers like Tarina to make them blossom.
She was ALSO kind enough to visit me on my holidays in Victoria Beach
and spend a day on a bike, traipsing from one corner of the town to the other.
The day after our shoot, Tarina was off to Kelowna, where she will be starting a position at Ballet Kelowna! I wish her all the best!...but am sad we are losing this beauty!
Visit Ballet After Dark to see more with Tarina.

Sophia&Yosuke!

While Sophia and I were initially planning a shoot, she asked if her boyfriend could come along,
another dancer in the company. I was thrilled, as I had never taken "pas de deux" shots, and had
become very interested in doing so. And my first experience was with Sophia and Yosuke!
I'm the luckiest photographer ever!
It's difficult to take your eyes off of each of these dancers
It's hard to imagine anything could compare to this pair
We spent about seven or eight hours biking around Victoria Beach
and Yosuke had just come back from Japan the day before!
I am thrilled the way my first pas de deux experience went!

Lydia!

Lydia left her home in England to move to Winnipeg to study ballet
when she was 11
While I was debating the best character in the Baby-Sitters Club,
she was choosing to be a dancer.
Between shoot locations, we stopped for sushi and Lydia wore her pointe shoes
rather than bother to change into sandals.
When we shot around her neighbourhood, she walked around in her tutu.
I can't wait to see what happens next time!

Ballet with Katie!

Katie walked all over Birds Hill park with me
We were waiting for the sun to set
and I was way way off about what time that would be at
we were ridiculously early
along the way though we got some cool shots as the light changed
Katie is super strong!

Winnipeg Fashion Feature!!!

Lets face it - Winnipeg gets bullied. We aren't considered cosmopolitan. We like talking about the weather, and don't consider it small talk. We really like Tim Hortons. We shamelessly lose our cool over the Jets (True North!). We are friendly. Really friendly. So much is our friendly reputation, the noun itself made itself on to our license plates. We're so friendly, we don't even fight back against these taunts. Beyond maybe a mumbling mention of Grand Beach and Folk Fest.  Maybe some of these taunts are fair, maybe not. I guess it depends on who you talk to, what you're looking for. One of MY personal least favourite reputations however? That we don't have any style. Perhaps we don't have the sprawling metropolitan streets of Montreal, the cosmopolitan opinions of Toronto, or the handful of shopping neighbourhoods in Victoria. But we got Osbourne Village! We got Corydon! We have quaint, cheerful local boutiques all across our little-city-with-the-big-city-feel :) Below, I feature merchandise available at three of my favourite of these boutiques and encourage you to check them out!
